Camel Glass & Joinery Limited

The client:

Camel are a family owned business providing glazing, window and door solutions for home owners in the South West of England for over 40 years.

Camel have four branches stretching from Redruth to Barnstaple, extending across three local authorities; Torridge, Cornwall and North Devon.

What we did:

Our analysis of data provided by the three local authorities highlighted a potential avenue to reduce Camel's business rates liability.

We conducted a thorough audit into the valuations of the branches as well as reviewing similar businesses within their localities. We felt that our analysis supported a strong argument that Camel was eligible for legislated help on their business rates.

"What they said they'd do, they did, quickly and efficiently."

We approached Camel only after we were satisfied there was a strong, viable argument.

The result:

Following our instruction, we sent four applications for each individual branch. Each application was curated to the individual branch, using our knowledge of how the respective councils operate and how the individual branches differed.

Ultimately, all our applications were approved. However, one of the councils did not backdate the support as far back as we believe legislation allowed. We challenged this successfully; quoting the supporting legislation and existing precedents.

"They told us they would get us savings and rebates on rates and that's what they did. Highly recommend."

In totality, our work saved Camel over £120,000 on their business rates, with the majority of the savings received as a refund.

What our client said:

"Great service from this company. What they said they'd do, they did, quickly and efficiently. They told us they would get us savings and rebates on rates and that's what they did. Highly recommend."
